Manikavu Temple - Wayanad, Kerala

This is the temple of Lord Shiva, near Choothupara, Meenangadi. The Manikavu temple Wayanad preserves a Shivling, which is believed to be self-manifested. Lord Shiva is generally worshipped in the form of Shiva linga. The Shivling, seen here is Swayambhoo and the speciality is that water is poured continuously over Shivling through a stream. The amount of water remains the same even in rainy season. Remember to carry coconut, banana fruit, and flowers for give as offerings for the Lord. Mythology Sage Narada once visited the celestial court of Lord Shiva at Mount Kailash to present to Him a fruit, the gyana-pazham (literally, the fruit of knowledge), that held in it the elixir of wisdom. Upon Lord Shiva expressing his intention of dividing the fruit between his two sons, Ganesha and Karthikeya , the Sage counseled Him against cutting it.
